THE MOTONETA VESPA GS TOY
The expensive part of making in new toy is the first bit. The research, the design, the expense of getting a model maker to build prototypes and sundry other expenses. Small wonder, therefore, that temptation has always beckoned the ill funded and opportunistic in the guise of a rubber mould from which a cheap plastic copy can be made of somebody else's masterpiece. What you see here is such an item. Made in Argentina, but clearly derived from Japan via the Bandai original as featured in Journal 10. In truth, the Bandai was not that much of a masterpiece in the first instance. But in its translation to the plastic form the redeeming feature of well-defined tinplate edges have been submerged in a sort of blob shape. For all that the Motoneta still has a degree of appeal, and it was probably a bit safer for Children to handle than the original.
