THE LINCOLN GS TOY
This attractive plastic toy - made in Hong Kong as was the norm in the fifties - turns up now and again at toy fairs and the like. The back looks more like a Clubman - if it wasn't for the "GS" insignia on the front I would say that it actually was meant to be a Clubman. This, of course, was of not the slightest interest to those for whom this toy was bought. Unlike the diecast toys of Dinky, Corgi etc, there are no published records of all the variations of the Lincoln GS, so this is a "best guess" at the order in which changes occurred.
1. Red push-and go version with silver headset, seat and tyres.
2. Red electric variant running tethered to battery case by electrical leads
3. Green, blue and yellow push - and- go versions introduced with white headset, seat and tyres. Red version dropped
4. Electric version changes from red to chrome. The headset etc becomes white on this one too.
5. The rider loses his red helmet and pink face and hands. The colour of his trousers changes from blue to black.
6. The headlight glass gains a blue tint.
There are bound to be other variants, so please write in if you find one.
